How and why do we measure impact?

It is very important to us to measure the effectiveness of KKEV Cambodia's work and to make it transparent in order to live up to the trust of our supporters and to be accountable and responsible to them. At the same time, it helps us to understand how effective our work on the ground already is or how it can be made even more effective.

We collect various quantitative and qualitative data, including

  • utilisation of the children's village and the street children's programme

  • the children's educational development

  • the children's emotional and social development

  • the children's health

  • improving the living conditions of the children's families or guardians

  • self-sufficiency through growing their own vegetables and keeping their own animals

  • children's education after school in the form of an apprenticeship or through simpler vocational training opportunities

  • teaching practical and technical skills, such as how to carry out repairs or sew

Audits

In 2015, there were 639 NPOs (non-profit organisations) in Cambodia that claimed to work for the welfare of underprivileged children. After the government issued clear guidelines and conducted audits, the number dropped to 181 in 2023. KKEV Cambodia is one of them, always receives the highest possible score in the audits and is seen as an example of best practice.
